Clean Break strives to bring the stories and issues of women in the criminal justice system in the UK to a wider audience through theatre arts and engagement. Founded in 1979 by two former prisoners, Clean Break's programming includes playwrights' residency and educational/transitional programs for recently released women.

In 2006, Chloe Moss worked as Clean Break's commissioned playwright. She worked in residency, touring women's prisons and working with current prisoners. After a tour to women's prisons in the UK, This Wide Night opened at the SoHo theatre in London in 2008.
