Work with Playwrights:
Much of my work is comprehensive, long-term work with playwrights as they write and develop new plays for submissions and readings.

Production philosophy:
Dramaturgy is the art of honoring the script, the production, and the collaborators. This means taking the world of vast contextual knowledge, learning all of it, and distilling it to answer the specific questions of each discrete constituency in any creative process. My goal in any dramaturgical process is to attempt to anticipate and answer questions like these:
The Playwright- what does the script do out in the world? What is clear, confusing, evocative, upsetting? How do we make sure my goals and my writing align?
The Director- what are the immutable, crucial aspects of this script? What cultural, social, or political history influenced it when it was written/when it's set, and what at this moment seems key to drawing out?
The Actor- What in the contextual history is interesting, and what is playable? What in the script, or in the world outside the script, may be leading my character to behave this way?
The Designer- What looks, materials, and ideas are accurate to the time period, location, and social station the play takes place within? Which ones are true to the script's aims and needs?
The Audience- what do I need to know that the performance will not explicitly tell me?
